I’m so excited to reveal the cover of my latest novel, The Sweetest Oblivion. Its release date is June 20th. All my favorite people who requested ARCs will get them this weekend so check your Kindle (or other reading device).
I’m super excited to share my upcoming novel, THE SWEETEST OBLIVION’s synopsis! It’s a standalone but will be part of the series MADE. The next book will feature two characters from Book #1. (But don’t worry, A Girl with A Tragic Ever After will be the next release!!) Thank you to everyone who has reached out to me about the third and final installment in Calamity’s story. I’m so so so sorry for the wait, but if I would’ve rushed the last book it’d be about as enjoyable to read as the back of a shampoo bottle. Some projects just take longer than others to speak to me, but I promise it’s my utmost priority.
Make sure you subscribe to my mailing list here ( http://eepurl.com/cO0fB9 ), as I will have a GIVEAWAY running soon for two different books I have recently read and loved. Don’t miss out!
Synopsis for THE SWEETEST OBLIVION:
She’s a romantic at heart, living in the most unromantic of worlds . . .
Elena has always crossed her t’s and dotted her i’s. Nicknamed The Sweet Abelli for her docile nature, she smiles on cue and has a charming response for everything. She’s the favored daughter, the perfect mafia principessa . . . or was.
Now, all she can see in the mirror’s reflection is blood splattered against her dress like crimson paint.
They say first impressions are everything . . .
In the murky waters of the underworld, Elena’s sister is arranged to marry Nicolas Russo. A Made Man, a Capo. A cheat—even measured against mafia standards. His reputation stretches far and wide and is darker than his black suits and ties. After his and Elena’s first encounter ends with an accidental glare on her part, she realizes he’s just as rude as he is handsome.
She doesn’t like the Capo or anything he stands for, though that doesn’t stop her heart from pattering like rain against glass when he’s near, nor the shiver that ghosts down her spine at the sound of his voice.
And he’s always near. Telling her what to do. Making her feel hotter than any future brother-in-law should. Elena may be The Sweet Abelli on the outside, but she’s beginning to learn she has a taste for the darkness, for rough hands, cigarettes, and whiskey-colored eyes. However, she already started one scandal and she can’t afford another.
Besides, even if he were hers, everyone knows you don’t fall in love with a Made Man . . . right?
So I have some bad news and some good news.
I’ll start with the bad first so you can hopefully forget about it while reading the good (I’m not sure I’m supposed to give my master plan away, but eh…)
A Girl with a Tragic Ever After is going to be later than expected. I know I promised November—and it’s not like I haven’t been writing every day—it’s just that the good news has come up.
I’ve been working on, and am very close to finishing, my very first contemporary novel! It’s a mafia-themed romance set in New York City, present day. This book has been a huge mind game for me, because truthfully, I find the contemporary genre really hard to write in. Fantasy is much more free in terms of what I can manipulate and create, while I’m completely hindered in modern day stories.
I’m not going to give much of it away, considering I haven’t decided what route of publishing I’m going to go with this book, but I wanted to share that I am writing—and that there is hardly a day that I don’t!
I don’t have a date for AGWATEA, but I promise it won’t be a year wait like it was with the second in the series.
Thanks for being understanding!!
First, I would just like to say I am floored by the support I’ve gotten during the release of A Girl in Black and White. To my friends and family who immediately jumped into reading it, and to all of my Goodreads’ friends and followers who read and reviewed it right away.
As a self-published author, it can feel like you’re going it all alone, and so I am so thankful for everyone’s support.
As for the feedback, floored would be a tame word to describe my feelings. I never expected this type of amazing feedback. I honestly believed I would get subpar reviews, and those who loved my first would be disappointed with my second. So the feedback that I’ve gotten is surprising and a little overwhelming.
I don’t think it would be possible to doubt oneself more than I did in the process of writing A Girl in Black and White. I was scared of Second Book Syndrome, I was scared of failure, and maybe of success and not having the kind of support needed for anyone to read it.
I believe writing is one of the most challenging things to do mentally. And it’s incredibly hard to get past that and to see your work clearly. And so, every Friday I’m going to try to post a writing tip and trick that I’ve learned throughout writing my Alyria series. Maybe so I can hear myself work out the things that have worked for me, and also for any writers out there struggling. There can never be too much art in the world.
As for A Girl with a Tragic Ever After (Alyria #3), it is coming along smoothly and I’m really hoping to have it released sometime this fall. I will keep everyone updated as I go.
Probably the most inspiring thing that motivates me to write is music. I love alternative, some mainstream stuff, and a lot of independent musicians. Here are the songs I found the most motivational throughout writing this series.
